Golf courses in
Playa del Carmen and the Riviera Maya 2026

Five 18-hole courses between Playa del Carmen and Tulum, ordered by distance from Parque Fundadores. Every rate and every spec comes from the operator's own page, with the source wording in plain sight.

⚠️ How to read these numbers: every figure on this page comes from the course operator's own site, and under each card we say which exact wording it came from and the day we checked it. Courses on the Riviera Maya change brand and operator often, so we publish the name each one uses on its own site today. Where an operator publishes no rate, this page says inquire and we do not invent a figure. We do not use prices from aggregators or tee time resellers.
Hard Rock Golf Club Riviera Maya
Playacar Phase II. The only course on this list that sits inside Playa del Carmen. Robert von Hagge design.
🔓 Open to the public 📍 Inside PDC 💵 Full rate card published

This is the one course here you can reach without leaving town. The gate is on Paseo Xaman-Ha, in Playacar Phase II. Robert von Hagge laid it out. The club's own fact sheet lists 18 holes, par 72 and 7,136 yards from the black tees, with four shorter sets behind it: blue 6,655, white 6,269, gold 5,750 and red 5,176. It runs 365 days a year, from 6 a.m. until dusk. It is also the only course here whose operator puts its whole rate card on the page.

What holds up
  • The only course inside Playa del Carmen itself
  • The operator publishes the full rate card, four tiers by time of day and age
  • Cart, unlimited practice balls, food and drinks are already in the green fee
  • Open 365 days a year, 6 a.m. until dusk
  • Fact sheet with par, yardage by tee, slope and rating
Worth knowing
  • The operator disagrees with itself on yardage: its fact sheet says 7,136 off the black tees, its web page says 6,775
  • No website of its own, the course information lives inside the hotel's site
  • The rate card itself warns that prices change without notice
Source: hotel.hardrock.com, checked September 6, 2026. The rate card reads "GREEN FEE (18 holes) $250 USD", "EARLY SHOT FEE $200 USD", "TWILIGHT FEE (9 holes) $180 USD" and "JUNIOR FEE (Ages 13-17) $70 USD", with the note "All the above rates are per person and are subject to change without previous notice" and the windows "Early Shot Fee from 6 A.M. / 7 A.M. Twilight Fee in summer after 2 P.M. / winter after 1 P.M." Par and yardage come from the club fact sheet, which prints "PAR 72" and a tee table headed "Black 7136". The same company publishes 6,775 yards on its web page, a figure that matches none of the five tees in its own document, so we run the fact sheet number and name the tee.

Source: corasol.mx, checked September 6, 2026. The page publishes "18 holes, Par 71", "7,043 yards", "Paspalum" and the membership line "Starting at $17,000 USD*". It publishes no green fee at all, so no figure runs here. The pro shop contact is published. The grancoyote.com domain this guide used to link now redirects to the corasol.mx home page, which is why the link goes straight to the course page instead.

El Camaleón Golf Course, Mayakoba
Inside Mayakoba. Greg Norman design. It hosts the LPGA Tour now.
🏆 LPGA Tour host 🔓 Open to the public 💎 Priciest on this list

It sits inside the Mayakoba complex, run by Golf de Mayakoba, part of Grupo RLH. Greg Norman laid it out: 18 holes, par 72, five tee markers per hole. Its own page now leads with the LPGA Tour. The sixteen PGA TOUR events it held, and the two LIV Golf dates, are written in the past tense. It is open to the public and you do not need to stay at the resort to play it.

What holds up
  • Greg Norman par 72, five tee markers per hole
  • The operator publishes both rates separately, prime time and twilight
  • Open to the public, no resort stay required
  • LPGA Tour host
Worth knowing
  • The highest green fee on this list
  • Club rental is $80 USD on top
  • The operator states no season with its rates, so there is no telling whether they climb in winter
Source: mayakoba.com, checked September 6, 2026. The page publishes "Prime Time: $375 USD", "Twilight: $280 USD" and an "$80 USD rental fee" for clubs, and mentions a special rate for Mayakoba guests. It states no season, so the figures run without one. The $270 USD floor this guide used to carry appears nowhere on the operator's site and has been dropped. On tournaments, the site says "has hosted 16 PGA TOUR events" in the past tense and leads with the LPGA Tour, which is why the PGA Tour host label came off this card.

Iberostar Playa Paraíso Golf Club
In the Iberostar Playa Paraíso complex, on the federal highway at km 309. P.B. Dye design, opened 2005.
⛳ 18 holes par 72 🌿 Paspalum

A working course with its own spec sheet published by Iberostar: 18 holes, par 72, 6,800 yards and paspalum turf, plus slope and rating by tee set. P.B. Dye designed it and it opened in 2005. The operator publishes no green fee figure, but it does say what the fee covers: a buggy, appetisers and unlimited drinks during the round. It also runs a shuttle between the complex hotels and the course.

Golf buggy Appetisers Unlimited drinks during the round Return shuttle between hotel and course
What holds up

  • Buggy, appetisers and unlimited drinks are already in the green fee
  • Tee-off times, intervals and twilight hour all published
  • Return shuttle between the complex hotels and the course
Worth knowing
  • No green fee figure published, you have to ask
  • The site blocks automated access: it errors out for a bot and opens normally in a browser
  • The page carries no date signal
Source: iberostar.com, checked September 6, 2026. The spec sheet publishes "Holes: 18", "Par: 72", "Course length: 6,800 yards" and "Type of grass: Paspalum". On price it says only what is covered: "Green fees include a golf buggy, appetisers and unlimited drinks during the round". No figure is published, so none runs here. The P.B. Dye design and the 2005 opening are not on that page: they come from our own earlier verification and are published as such. This course had been left off the guide and written up as having become another one, which was false. It operates on its own.

PGA Riviera Maya
Inside Tulum Country Club. Two Robert Trent Jones II layouts and a Korn Ferry Tour stop.
🏆 Korn Ferry Tour host 🔓 Open to the public 🌿 Two layouts

One facility, two layouts: an 18-hole course and a 9-hole par 3. The Robert Trent Jones II team designed both, and they sit inside the Tulum Country Club residential complex, 25 km from Tulum by the operator's own count. The operator runs three of its own names side by side: PGA Riviera Maya, Riviera Maya Golf Club and Riviera Maya Golf Club Bahia Principe. Since 2019 it has been the first complex in Latin America partnered with the PGA of America. The Tulum Championship, a Korn Ferry Tour event, plays here April 16 to 19, 2026, and the course is on that calendar through at least 2027.

What holds up
  • Two distinct layouts on one property, an 18-hole course and a 9-hole par 3
  • Korn Ferry Tour host, with dates published and a deal through at least 2027
  • Spells out exactly what the green fee covers
  • Partnered with the PGA of America since 2019
Worth knowing
  • No green fee figure published, you have to ask
  • Publishes no par for either layout
  • The farthest course on this list
Source: pgarivieramaya.com and pga-rm.com, checked September 6, 2026. The operator describes "two golf courses, one with 18 holes and the other with 9 par-3 holes" and publishes no par for either, so no par runs here. On price it says only what is covered: "Cart, water bottles, tees, 24 practice range balls". No figure is published, so this reads as inquire. This guide also carried a separate Bahía Príncipe card as though it were a different course. It was the same one, and its bahiaprincipegolf.com domain redirects to this very site. The yardage that card published appears in no operator source and has been dropped.

The order runs by distance from Parque Fundadores, in Playa del Carmen, nearest first. Where it says inquire, the operator publishes no rate on its site and we run no figure. Vidanta Riviera Maya is not in this table because it is a par 3, and comparing it with these five tells you nothing useful.

A par 3 course, for half a day

Vidanta Riviera Maya
Nicklaus Design par 3 layout, 2,923 yards.
⛳ Par 3 🌴 Short round

It is not in the table above because it is not the same thing. This is a Nicklaus Design par 3 layout of 2,923 yards, which the operator presents as a short course rather than a championship one. Setting its yardage next to a par 72 tells you nothing useful: they are two different ways to spend a morning. It works for a half-day round, for starting out, or for playing alongside someone who does not play.

What it is for
  • Short format, good for half a morning
  • Nicklaus Design layout
  • A reasonable way in for a beginner, or for playing with someone who does not golf
Worth knowing
  • Not a championship course, and not comparable to the five above
  • The operator publishes no green fee
  • The page carries no date signal
Source: vidanta.com, checked September 6, 2026. The page presents it as the "Nicklaus Par Three Experience" and publishes 2,923 yards. It publishes neither a total par nor a green fee, so neither runs here. That is why it stays out of the comparison table.
